The judge ruled yesterday, July 1, 2014, that Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear’s arguments that traditional marriages “contribute to a stable birth rate which, in turn, ensures the state’s long-term economic stability” was a flawed argument.

In the Judge’s words “These arguments are not those of serious people.”

Yes, the Governor has already said he would appeal this case, the Love v. Beshear case, just as he is appealing the earlier case about recognizing same-sex marriages which were already performed, the Bourke v. Beshear case.

Right now, both cases are stayed, which means that we are waiting for the 6th Circuit to rule on the appeals. It is still a win and same-sex marriage in Kentucky has gotten one giant step forward.
